Report: Latest Switch Firmware Reveals First Switch Pro Details
Nintendo won't talk about the next Switch console until it's good and ready to do so, but the latest firmware for the existing andcontains a number of references to what's expected to be the Switch Pro.the new details were discovered by Twitter users SciresM, who is described as a console hacker and dataminer. When taking a close look at the Switch firmware, SciresM discovered references to new
hardware carrying the codename "Aula." It uses the same Mariko (Tegra X1+) system-on-chip found in the Switch Lite, but will apparently be clocked higher so as to offer more performanceWe expect the Swicth Pro to offer 4K visuals, and the firmware also suggests this is true, but not on the Switch handheld itself. SciresM found reference to a Realtek chip in the firmware, which is a "4K UHD
multimedia SoC." It's thought that Nintendo intends to add the 4K SoC to the dock of the Switch Pro, allowinbg for 4K output through aWhen used in handheld mode, this new model comes with a few upgrades. As well as the higher-clocked chip, SciresM believes it will use an OLED screen of the same
resolution as the existing Switch models. We should also expect a big improvement in cooling and battery life. Better battery life will be enough of an excuse to upgrade for many, seeing as the existing models manage , but can require a recharge after just three hours.
